About Me
I am a journalism major at the University of Missouri with a passion for finding the truth and delivering it to audiences in an easy-to-understand, compelling way. I believe in using the platform of journalism to raise a variety of voices in the community, and, in particular, those that have been silenced. I am motivated to learn the ins and outs of television journalism so I can best serve the community and my newsroom. I am a leader when I need to be and when provided the opportunity, and always a team-player.
Producing

PRODUCING: Building out the lead
I was asked, along with my mentor -- an EP at the station, to pre-produce the A-block of the 5 & 6 p.m. newscasts for the first day of the trial, as well as any special reports. I spent hours coordinating the coverage and building the rundowns in a way I hoped would give the story the attention and showcasing it deserved. I brought in a local former prosecutor as an analyst exclusive to our station who provided answers to questions I believed viewers would have about the trial.

PRODUCING: Making quick calls
This A-block shows my ability to solve problems. About 10 minutes before the show our meteorologist alerted my Executive Producer and me he would need to lead the show due to dangerous conditions. There was also big breaking news from our largest school district in our DMA. Our field anchor's liveshot dropped before a scripted Q&A with our studio anchor. I noticed the liveshot had dropped and directed the director to take the anchor on camera, instructed him to wrap coverage and communicated which page number I needed the teleprompter to be set to.
Anchoring/Live Anchoring

LIVE ANCHORING: CPS to bring back mask mandate
After we broke this story at 6 p.m. I decided to build up our coverage for the 10 p.m. show. I interviewed a group of students who led protests to bring the mask mandate back and added different pieces of data as elements to provide context to the big story of the day.
LIVE ANCHORING: 2022 State of the State Address
For the 2022 State of the State address I organized our coverage of the day. I coordinated which reporters would talk to lawmakers and built the rundown the night before with most of the elements I felt would help tell the big story of the day while also giving the viewer an understanding of what the day's event could potentially mean for them.
